Sent to My Room

Yesterday, a friend texted and told me that she’s in a battle. Later that evening, when I was getting snippy, my husband, very gently and sweetly, sent me to my room – my prayer closet. I took his advice, sat down in my prayer closet, and waited for the Lord to speak to me.
I didn’t wait more than a few seconds. In no time at all, the Lord had me energized, empowered, and ready to do battle! He led me in praying for my friend. He reminded me of His Names and who He’d been for me (my Healer, my Peace, the God who sees me, etc.). I prayed that the Lord would reveal who He wanted to be for my friend during her battle. Then Holy Spirit sent me verse after verse, revealing Himself in a deeper way to me.
When the prayer closed, I sat silently, enjoying the peaceful presence of the Lord. Sitting there, in my prayer closet, my eyes fell upon one of the verses taped to my wall:
[She] who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the defense and protection of the most powerful, Almighty God. ~ Psalm 91:1
If you’re feeling heavily burdened by the cares and worries of this world, maybe you should be sent to your room – to your prayer closet. If the voices of fear, worry, and panic are louder than the Lord’s, then it’s time to step away and simply be in His presence. Wherever you go and whatever you do to enter the Lord’s presence, be sure to go there today.
